The floor was stone cold on her bare skin. Her heart pounded in her chest. ‘Not a soul knows where I am,’ she thought as she took in the darkness around her. And then she heard his footsteps…

Holy hell does someone want to come and pick me up from the floor, Don’t Tell A Soul by D.K. Hood, this is the first in the series encompassing Detectives Alton and Kane.

This is my first encounter with D.K Hood and if I’m truthful I really should have grabbed this book a whole lot earlier, now I unashamedly volunteered to read the second book in the series before realising I hadn’t read the first, heyho we all make mistakes so to get the full effect of the Alton and Kane series I started from the beginning.

I was introduced to Sheriff Jenna Alton and Deputy Sheriff Kane and the thrill knowing these two characters held secrets, enticed me further into the book. It all starts when Kane is sanctioned to work as a Deputy Sheriff in a small town, Black Rock Falls, where his first encounter with Alton is precarious and its not exactly an easy welcome to the area.

The town of Black Rock Falls holds secrets, the locals hold secrets and the new law enforcement have secrets, how long before the secrets irrefutably collide and will it destroy what they have become.

Reading about Black Rock Falls it manifests in my imagination as an unequivocally normal town where nothing really happens, until a body is discovered in a barrel at the local dump. Alton and Kane discover that visitors to the area have disappeared, are they missing or have they just moved on, is there a reason for them to be targeted, how many more are in danger.

D.K. Hood managed to place my imagination on high alert, pivoting back and forth, gorging on my deep interest pertaining to Alton and Kane. There were nuggets from the past seeping through the pages, leaving me trying to formulate my own investigation of who exactly are Alton and Kane, maybe the next book in the series would tell me more.

Grit and determination festooned like a carnival parading through my mind as I tried to outwit D.K Hood and solve the crime before Alton and Kane, but it bubbled under the surface just out of my reach.

Its been a pleasure to read and review Don’t Tell A Soul, a fantastic new Detective Series which I will definitely continue to follow. The next book in the series is up for publication on 27th of February and I have a spot on the Blog Tour for Bring Me Flowers, so join me as we look once more at Alton and Kane.

Born in London U.K, I travelled extensively before settling in sunny Australia. My interest in the development of forensic science to solve crime goes back many years. I enjoy writing crime, mystery and thrillers. With many stories, waiting for me to write I’m looking forward to sharing many spine tingling stories with you.

Bookouture announced the signing of author D.K. Hood in a three book World rights deal for a new US-set crime series. Don’t Tell a Soul is the first book in a new crime series featuring Sheriff Jenna Alton and her deputy David Kane. It will be published in November 2017 with two more books following in 2018.

D.K. Hood is an active member of International Thriller Writers.
