bookreview-041

For the third instalment in the Detective Josie Quinn series, Lisa Regan has created Her Mother’s Grave, an astounding page turner in which I could almost inhale the sense of impeding doom surrounding Josie. Love, love, loved it.

Detective Josie Quinn comes face to face with her past, the discovery of human remains in a shallow grave in the woods close to where Josie use to stay as a child, ultimately slamming the past back to the present and the signs point to Josie’s mother. Now is the time that Josie has to relive the past and try to comprehend what happened.

What is the connection between Belinda Rose the murder victim and Josie’s mother, Josie walks a thin line following the investigation, trying to trace her mother, looking for answers, trying to uncover what happened to Belinda Rose and who wants her to stay away, leave well alone.

I was horrified to discover about Josie’s past but it comes at a point where we needed to find out more about Josie, to understand her, such depravity encircled through the years it was a wonder that Josie became such a strong, effectual woman, but the investigation into her past has left me with know doubt that she could cope with anything.

Her Mother’s Grave is written with a certainty that Lisa grabbed my attention, the narrative was smooth, easy, not over developed but with a comparative which gelled seamlessly between past and present.

Her Mother’s Grave is one hell of a belter to read, dare you to tear your eyes away from the pages, its full on, intense and abhorrent in sections but a worthy 5 stars, and the next in the series hopefully wont be too long in coming.

My thanks go to Bookouture, Lisa Regan and Noelle Holten for the advanced readers copy of Her Mother’s Grave in exchange for my unbiased and honest review. It’s been a pleasure to be part of the Blog Tour today, invited by Noelle Holten.
