Book Description

You only let her go for a second… Now she’s gone.

Erika Rice is in an elevator with her four-year-old daughter Alice when it stops on the wrong floor and her little girl runs out. The doors close before Erika can follow, and the daughter she loves more than anything is suddenly nowhere to be seen.

Erika can’t bear the thought of her daughter in danger or afraid, and will do anything to get her back. But with no sign of Alice, Erika has no idea where to begin.

The residents of the apartment block claim not to have seen anything, but Erika realises someone’s lying to her – and that there’s something darker at play.

How could a four-year-old disappear into thin air?

A gripping and addictive psychological thriller that will have you holding on tight to the ones you love. If you enjoyed Behind Closed Doors, Silent Child and I Let You Go, you won’t want to miss The Day I Lost You!

Where do I start, I mean publication day on Friday the Thirteenth OMG…….for many this would be a source of bad luck, but Alex Sinclair has nothing to fear with his newest release The Day I Lost You. Hands down an utterly intense mind seizing plotline which managed to grab the dark depravity of a convoluted soul, laying it bare for all to see. Alex has perfected the psychological thriller in a robust but easily read narrative, perfect for Friday the 13th…… Dare you read it, a nightmare for any parent to endure.

Okay I know I tend to over analysis books throw in obtuse words which probably drive people insane but every book I read has a story, a light which has to be seen and The Day I Lost You is no exception.

Right lets get on with what will hopefully be on your reading list..

Alex has centred The Day I Lost You around Erika and her child Alice (Bunny), a seemingly normal day descends into a nightmare of the worst kind when Alice goes missing in an apartment block, all they were there for was Alice’s doll. No-one claims to have seen Alice, Erika believes they are hiding something from her, she believes Alice may have been kidnapped, all her questions remain unanswered, fear and anxiety are pressing Erika on to find her daughter, to save Alice. While Alex narrates the book about the present situation Erika finds herself in we also look back to Erika’s past, her relationship with her ex-husband and what happened, Alex uses these building blocks to form a plot of twists which stabilise the present dilemma.

Erika is a strong character but with a fleeting nature which goes a long way to understand what Alex is trying to accomplish with the final few chapters, ensnaring the reader (that’s me) in the tangle of what, why and how scenarios.

Very well played Alex, you certainly played me….and the pages kept on turning.

I have read The Last Thing I Saw another psychological thriller by Alex and following on from there The Day I Lost You both books outweigh each other in my view, there is no doubt that Alex has a flavour for psychological thriller and I look forward to his next release.

My thanks go to Bookouture, Alex Sinclair and Noelle Holten for the advanced readers copy of The Day I Lost You, its been my pleasure to have been able to read and review Alex’s newest book and be part of the Blog Blitz today. Congrats Alex Sinclair.
