Its my pleasure to be part of the Blog Tour today for Double Jeopardy by M.A Comley, without further ado, lets get the show on the road……………I Can Be Your Hero
Successful entrepreneur, Ross Spalding, has everything to live for; a thriving business, a stunning new home, and a high society wedding to his beautiful fiancée to look forward to in the coming months.
That is, until his life comes to an abrupt, gruesome end. DI Hero Nelson and his team need to dig deep to find the reasons behind someone wanting Ross Spalding dead. As more people connected to Ross also die, some in suspicious circumstances, the suspect list grows beyond all expectations, until a major clue presents itself and spins the investigation off in a totally new direction.
However, Hero’s personal life is also dealt a major blow when his parents are faced with a life or death situation. He is forced to put his personal problems aside when the murderers are revealed and Hero is faced with a tight deadline in which to apprehend them.
Every Hero Deserves To Have Their Story Told
Double Jeopardy is the fourth novel in the series surrounding DI Hero Nelson, although part of a series Double Jeopardy lends well to being read comfortably as a standalone.
The prologue starts off at a rip-roaring pace with the brutal death of an executive businessman. Who could want Spalding dead, a man with seemingly no enemies and no obvious motive. Hero and his team delve into the world of business following leads, interviewing friends and colleagues all the while the death toll rises. I can honestly say that I had what I thought, was my eureka moment, I KNEW who killed Spalding but as the book progresses it becomes apparent I was categorically wrong.
The plot has a multitude of red herrings, I gamely plundered down the false paths to then pause and think hang on Mel you’ve led me a merry dance, proving to me that Mel is a wonder at weaving an intricate web of crime.
I thoroughly enjoyed the insight into Hero’s life, showing not just his professional life but also his personal life. Mel shows that Hero is human, life is not easy, sometimes a spanner is thrown into the works and we all have to try and make it through by holding it together. It was also good to read about the other characters which previously may not have been in the limelight all that often, allowing us to better understand and get to know Hero’s team.
Mel has accomplished an intense and intriguing crime thriller which I found difficult to put down, I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough, I had to get the end. Mel didn’t disappoint with an emotional but well rounded conclusion to Double Jeopardy.
